What Is Bánh Mi?

Among Vietnam’s greatest gifts to the American culinary scene, the bánh mi - or Vietnamese hoagie - has recently earned a place at the top of the list of the planet’s great sandwiches and street foods. It’s signature elements - a light, warm, crusty roll, pickled daikon & carrots, crisp cucumber, fresh cilantro, jalepeño, and citrus mayo – provide the base for simple, marinated, charbroiled meats, tofu, or veggies.

The Best Ingredients

We’ve traveled the country and the world to perfect the American bánh mi. From the best fish sauce straight from Saigon, to all-natural chickens and eggs from our backyard in Lancaster County, and the best baguette we could find baked in South Philly. Everything is fresh. Nothing is fried. Meats and tofu are marinated, and charbroiled or seared using very little oils.

East Meets West

Bánh Street’s “secret sauce” is our chef's approach to pairing the traditional aromatic Vietnamese palette with the rich, succulent flavors of the American grill, while still maintaining a light, refreshing sandwich. The bánh mi provides the perfect intersection for these two great culinary mediums. Our founder and chef has over fifteen years of true southern BBQ experience and a passion for combining his experience with Asian cuisine. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Vietnamese, or brand new to the scene, we promise you’ve never had anything like ours!
